Sport-heute.ch schliesst seine Tore. Nach 11 Jahren möchte ich andere Projekte verwirklichen, auf Reisen gehen und das Leben endlich in vollen Zügen geniessen. Es waren 11 wundervolle Jahre mit Ihnen. Sport-heute.ch bleibt mindestens die nächsten Jahre als Bilderbuch noch bestehen. Doch jeder Abschied kann auch ein neuer Anfang sein. Nun ist es endgültig. Ich wünsche Ihnen eine weiterhin schöne Zeit. Ich danke Ihnen für die Lesertreue und Ihre ehrliche Begeisterung mit grosser Dankbarkeit. Danke, dass ich Sie 11 Jahre verwöhnen durfte.

Thirty two years after the first of his seven attempts, French ocean racing star Loick Peyron won the mythical Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe this Monday morning (TU) when he crossed the finish line of the solo race from Saint-Malo France to Pointe-a-Pitre at 04:08:32 TU/05:08:32 CET/00:08:32 local The lone skipper of the 31.5m (103ft) Ultime trimaran Maxi Solo Banque Populaire VII completed the 3,542 miles course in 7d 15h 8m 32s.

After nine editions over 32 years, Pointe-a-Pitre - the finish city for La Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe - has shown it knows how to throw a welcome party to the heroic finishers of the classic, four yearly 3542 miles solo race from Saint Malo.

FLASH INFO: Cat Phones Dismasted

At 17:30 UTC, British competitor, Conrad Humphreys, Racing on the Class 40 Cat Phones, contacted the race office of the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe to report that his boat had dismasted when he was 380nm east of the Azores. Conrad Humphreys is safe inside the boat and he is monitoring the situation. The Race Direction of the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe contacted the CROSS (France's Maritime Rescue Coordination Center). They are keeping the contact with the British skipper to try to get him to the coast as soon as possible.
